Whats Character ?
To me Character is what defines you as a person, It’s the things we do when no one is looking, Its been true to yourself, It’s not about having good intensions and make promises but keeping them , Character is what and who you really are whilst reputation is merely what others think you are . Character is when your actions match your words.
We live in a world that is so fake and people often paint a picture of themselves on social media or to society of who they want people to think they are not who they really are.
There are so many amazing causes out there that you can follow , yet the more awareness we bring to them the less impact it seems to have.
R U OK is one of these amazing causes and is close to my heart and so many people promote it yet very few of all these people follow it up with action.
Sending a text to someone saying R U ok is one thing but how many people follow it up and make contact with that person. How many pick up the phone and call them and let them know that there is someone here that cares ? , how many people take action from their own self absorbed life and go and see them, give them a hug and tell them face to face even if it inconveniences them. How many people truly care ?
We live in such a selfish world and there seems to be a huge promotion in Self Love these days especially in Western society which seems to be making us even more selfish. Love is selfless not selfish it’s about sacrifice , it’s about giving up part of yourself, Love is about making a conscious decision to do what’s best for the other person instead of yourself. Love isn’t about doing things only if it’s convenient for you or if your going to benefit in some way. Love is the ability and willingness to allow those you care for to be what they choose for themselves without any insistence that they satisfy you.
Character is the essence of who you are and actions always speak louder than words which cannot only change or save someones life but can have such a huge impact on the world
