So many people let the weather dictate their mood and how they feel. I like to take the approach of if you can’t beat them join them and just go with it. Embrace
the change of seasons , keep warm during the winter months cover up and in the gym focus on adding quality muscle to your body. Use the seasons to your advantage and your metabolism increases during winter so it gives you more incentive to train hard in the gym or you can eat more which also helps keep you warmer and spend the summer months trying to take the weight off, the choice is yours. Remember summer bodies are made in Winter and it’s a great opportunity to add some quality lean muscle to your body . I also don’t let the weather dictate terms and will continue to go to the beach and surf during winter enjoying other benefits like less crowds and some amazing sunrises.
Spring is a great time for change as the sun stays around longer and trees and flowers start to blossom. so it’s also a great opportunity to un clutter your house and your life and get rid of things you don’t want or have no need for and start fresh. Get rid of any bad habits , clean up your diet , up your training intensity and as a result get rid of any unwanted fat from your body and remove toxic people from your life.
Summer months is a great opportunity to take full advantage of your athletic body and longer days spending more time out doors amongst nature and quality time with family, friends and loved ones.
Autumn is a great time to unwind after a hectic summer and Christmas period and recharge, it’s also perfect weather to take your training to another level.
So don’t let the weather or seasons dictate your mood or your training and we are blessed to live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world and our weather is so mild in comparison to other countries and there are millions of people out there that would change places with you in a heartbeat so stop the whining and have an attitude of gratitude.
Remember when you change the way you look at things the things you look at change – which is why some people dance in the rain whilst others use it as a reason to stay indoors or get depressed.
Another extremely powerful method you can use is to reframe the way you view things and your self talk.
If you have any doubt about the process , consider this – you may already be reframing negatively and holding yourself back. When you think about exercise do you : dread the drive to the gym and the effort , or do you look forward to moving and challenging your body and the burst of energy and achievement that comes with that ? do you consider the health benefits physically , emotionally and psychologically that exercise offers you or do you just think of it as hard work and your too tired, too old, too slow, too cold or don’t have enough time. Do you consider the importance exercise has on the way you age and your outlook on life or do you blame your age as to why your body is the way it is and your grumpy attitude to life.
When you think about the alarm going off in the morning do you : set it to snooze and just get another 10 minutes sleep – the day can wait ; or do you leap out of bed and burst into action in anticipation of the day ahead..
Start to challenge yourself and ask how else you can think of things that will make you feel better and remember you have more control over your mood and emotions that you realise and the tool box between your ears is more powerful than you will ever know.
